And here are some interesting facts about the Kamchatka berry
itself as well as our plantation.
Kamchatka berry (Lonicera caerulea L.) is a variety of blue honeysuckle, originating from the honeysuckle family. The species is primarily found alongside northeastern Asia. It is relatively new to the Polish market but it is becoming more and more popular due to its rich flavour and health benefits.
The secret of the Kamchatka berry is … its colour. Why? Ruby, purple and light blue colorants are in fact anthocyanins which have huge impact on our health.
Japanese people call the Kamchatka berry „Long life and good sight berry”. The reason is the amount of anthocyanins (there are four times more anthocyanins in the Kamchatka berry than in an ordinary blueberry) which help you to keep diabetes away and protect you from any potential diseases of the circulatory system. But that is not all! The Kamchatka berry is armed with high doses of vitamin C, B vitamins as well as magnesium, phosphorus, potassium and calcium. These microelements boost the immune system and the best way to get them into our bodies is by eating fruit or any other product (jam, juice). It is delicous in any form!
Our 20 hectare entirely organic plantation is home to our Kamchatka berry bushes – Wojtek and Zojka which originate from Poland. Due to fully organic farming techniques our juice has a high concentration od anthocyanins: over 330 mg on every 100 grams. That's the reason why our product provides high health benefits. Sour Wojtek is supported by sweet Zojka and this cooperation results in a unique sweet-sour flavour which is a consumer's favourite.
Our 20 hectare plantation is situated in Zienki, Parczew Country, lubelskie voivodship, Poland. It offers a valuable and beautiful location close to Polesie National Park, which covers a number of peat bog preserves, swamps and karstic lakes as well as some unique plant and animal species. Fresh, clean air and water encourage organic farming making sure that our products are of the highest quality.
We grow Polish species of the Kamchatka berry: Wojtek and Zojka in a 3:1 majority.
Depending on the weather conditions the harvest begins in mid-June and lasts for 2-3 weeks.
