Products & CharacteristicsAgriFoods Co offers premium quality sustainably sourced organic
dates from Iran at a highly competitive price. The varieties offered are the Piarom, Zahedi and Rabbi.
The Piarom date is also known as the Maryami date, and they are semi-dried (moisture under 15%), larger than other varieties (3-5cm), thin skinned and black-brown color. It is widely considered the most delicious and most valued of all semi-dry date varieties in Iran. Due to the high amount of fructose in Maryami dates, they are most suited for those who have diabetes. It is also suitable for asthma, colon and stomach cancer, since it is rich in potassium.
The Zahedi variety is one of the major species of dried date fruit and has an impressive annual yield. Considered the most frequently used variety of date fruit in Iran. Iranian Zahedi dates contain a variety of minerals (such as potassium, magnesium and protein), vitamins (such as vitamin A, vitamin B complex and vitamin C) and sugars (such as fructose).
The Rabbi dates are amongst the best loved and earliest date varieties in Iran and globally. Rabbi (Rabee) dates come just behind Stamaran, Shahani, Mazafati and Kabkab dates as having the most economic value of all date produced in Iran. Iranian Rabbi dates are semi-dry, long, oval dates, about 3-5cm in length (but are available in many sizes) to some extent similar to Piarom but without the wrinkles on the skin of Piarom. They have thin, meaty skin that clings to the flesh with a soft texture. Iranian Rabbi dates have an attractive black color, and have a unique and indescribable taste. They have a moisture content of around 16%.
The validity of the dates is at least 2 years if kept refrigerated, and up to 3 months in a cold storage. The dates are best suited for consumption or for further processing in the food industry.
